Through the mentoring program, youth will increase their development to become successful and productive citizens through the implementation of mentors who will incorporate five (5) healthy fundamental elements in their mentoring approaches. Those five healthy fundamental elements are as follows:
Healthy Behavioral Development: Participants will gather knowledge of proper ways to process their behaviors through the development of social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
Healthy Identity Development: Participants will develop stronger knowledge of self, as well as their abilities to affect others to prepare for effective leadership. This knowledge will be gained through a series of activities that promote healthy self-esteem, identity, cultural awareness, and development of critical thinking
Healthy Relationship Development: Participants will develop the knowledge and skills needed to identify, establish, and maintain healthy familial, peer, and other social relationships through exposure to advanced communication skills, teamwork exercises, and community service
Healthy Academic and Career Readiness Development: Participants will develop the knowledge needed to plan for their academic success and access academic resources such as course selections, tutorials, and application submissions
Healthy Leadership Development: Participants will develop knowledge of the basic concepts of leadership development. They will learn the concept of leadership and will understand what it means to be a leader. They will also learn different models and theories of leadership.
